HOW TO BUILD A CHARCUTERIE CHALET IN 3 STEPS

 1. GATHER ALL OF YOUR BUILDING MATERIALS AND DECOR.

Here's the items that you'll need in each category to make your Charcuterie Chalet:

STRUCTURAL SUPPORT & WALLS (Pick 2-3):

  • Crackers
  • Pretzel Rods
  • Breadsticks
  • Flatbreads

BINDING GLUE (Pick 1):

  • Cheez Whiz
  • Cream Cheese
  • Spreadable Cheese

DECOR (Pick 3-5):

  • Cheese: Cubes, Slices, Mini Babybel, Mini Brie, Grated Parmesan, Goat Cheese, etc.
  • Charcuterie: Salami, Ham, Peperoni, Prosciutto, Meat Sticks, etc
  • Fresh Herbs: Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, etc
  • Vegetables: Cherry Tomatoes, Carrots, Broccoli, etc.
  • Pickled Things: Pickles, Olives, etc.
  • Nuts: Pine Nuts, Pecans, Almonds, Pumpkin Seeds, etc.
  • Extra Bits: Wasabi Peas, Pomegranate, Popcorn, etc.

TOOLS:

  • Surface to Build Chalet: Baking Sheet, Plate, Cutting Board, etc
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Butter Knife or Spoon
  • Ziplock Bag + scissors for Piping (optional)

2. MAKE THE STRUCTURE OF THE CHARCUTERIE CHALET

Depending on the type of Structural Support Elements you chose have a few options here.

If you chose the breadsticks or pretzel rods, you can use a log cabin style approach.

If you chose the flatbread approach, it is recommended to build the walls first and then bind them together with Binding Glue to make a cube-like structure. Of course, you can get creative here.

You'll need structural supports to make your charcuterie chalet structurally sound and to hold the roof up. Ways to make it supported are to use breadsticks on joints where walls come together, use flatbreads overlapping seams perpendicularly to strengthen them, create internal support beams to rest the roof structure on, and/or build up posts in the middle of the structure.

3. DECORATE YOUR CHARCUTERIE CHALET

This is where your imagination can run wild. Use Charcuterie as shingles, parmesan as snow, pickles for trees, and more!
